I am way too tired to deal with photos and videos at this point, so I'll just do a recap.
Yishai, as planned, picked me up from work around 7:30 and somehow we made it to LA by 10:00. The girls were screaming their fool heads off, "It sounded like death," so he begged me to take then in my arms, which I did, until they got tired and went peacefully to sleep in their crate. (Yishai thoughtfully put them in one, as they like being together more than not.) As we rolled down 101, I was bumping some explicit lyrics and Yishai turns down the volume and goes, "Shh, the kids will hear!" He is very cute.
When we got to Darren and Dana's house (a friend of his from childhood, who happens to live all of five minutes from LAX), they were quite happy. I let them out to play on his lawn and we all had a good ol' time until Darren brought his gentle-but-enthusiastic pitbull mix, which scared them pretty well. When we got inside, they discovered mirrors, that Lucy the adult dog wasn't going to kill them, and that her dog food was pretty tasty. I thought it was cute - we saw Darren when I dropped Fury off at LAX to get bred, when she got picked up again, and now they got to see the result of that.
We got them good and tired and by midnight we all went to bed, puppies happily sleeping in the crate. Around 3 am, however, they wanted out and Yishai let them out to relieve themselves, but then they wanted social time, which meant I let them up on my bed (he was on the floor by the crate) and then turned into face bath which turned into, "Yishai, put them back in the crate, and have this" as I handed him a pillow so they couldn't see us. Which, of course, worked.
5:30 am I roused the puppies and myself to potty and play and let Yishai sleep in. By 6:30 we were at LAX and I loaded Firma up to go. I must say that the cargo people are not very enthusiastic - I know it's early, but have you SEEN my puppies? Anyway, I was doing okay about letting her go until they took her off to get screened and I could hear her crying. I got out of there as fast as I could.
Yishai and I went back to Darren's to kill an hour and a half and get Curry fed (I had to hand feed the princess, which reminded me of having to hand feed the larger version of her only a few months ago) and played with and pottied. And then it was her turn. She was kind of shaky in the airport with all the new sounds and sights and smells and I worried that she was going to have a rougher time of her flight than Curry did, despite her being silent in her crate as they rolled her away.
I got back into the car and both Yishai and I were a bit sad. We rationalized the flights, him reminding me that Fury's sister Angel got a plane ride to Germany so even LAX to Newark was really not that bad. They survived a three-hour car ride just fine.
We went on a trip around Manhattan Beach and had breakfast as Yishai decided today should be a little LA vacation day and we did some errands. He started to worry when we didn't hear from Bekka about Firma but I had just gotten done saying that she needed time to pick her up, go, "She is so cute" and get on the road before calling me when the phone rang. "She's wonderful, happy, and has decided she needs to sit in my lap - I'll have photos for you soon. Thank you again." No, thank you.
We then stopped off in Santa Barbara because Yishai was jonesing for a zoo trip (he likes animals much?) and I started to wonder why I hadn't heard anything about Curry (we were both kind of anxious) so I called Amy. She's right as rain, had no problem taking to her, and apparently is already happy to play with her other dogs.
So, all in all, my little girls' deliveries went well and as planned and I got a nice day out of it . . .
Until I came home and Laura looked absolutely exasperated. I asked her to just let the puppies out into their pen and feed them in the morning, which she did, only to come home to puppy "mistakes" all over her room (her room is where the pet door goes out from). She has said all along that the puppies are fine so long as they aren't in her room, so fair's fair. My guess is that it rained and the tarp weighed down the pen and bent it enough for them to escape. Laura was not the only one affected. My fancy headset I use for Skype and my favorite brown casual/work shoes are destroyed (though I have already ordered replacements).
So yeah, while I currently have four puppies bopping around in the house pen, I know I only have three more to go. Reid will come up with me to the Bay Area this weekend for delivery while Yishai takes care of the others. Home interests come and go on Fie and Moto. I think Fie may have a spot, but we'll see. I am keeping my doors open. I still cannot believe no one is a taker on Motzi. I get someone interested once a day or so in them, but either they don't qualify what I'm looking for or they don't follow up.
Sigh. That just means the right home will come along for both of them. So far so good. I am thrilled that the girls are happy and their new owners are happy. And honestly, I'm thrilled we're some puppies down. :)
