I wasn't sure if the appointment was on Thursday or Friday, but it turned out it was Thursday, so with an hour before the 2:50 appointment, I called up Yishai to tell him that while I didn't need him to go, I knew he liked such forays, so if he wanted to . . .
He arrived shortly thereafter at my house and demanded that rather than kenneling the puppies, he keep both of them in his arm the whole drive across town:
As you can see, we took Fury along for moral support.
As is normal, the vet techs squealed upon seeing them and begged to hold them while they did paperwork before the vet came in.
And then it was time to examine . . . both puppies took it in stride:
Yishai admonished me for this photo. It wasn't dignified to Curry, but her expression is pretty awesome: "This is NOT happening to me." But then Yishai made it all better. Then Firma:
All in all it was a pretty good vet visit, the vet, Dr. Evans, declared my puppies "perfect" (as if, dear reader, we didn't already know that) and out we went. I personally enjoyed how she told Yishai and I that it was a pleasure meeting us both. Ahem. Dr. Evans has been my vet for ten, fifteen years. She was on the watch when Dusty got Valley Fever and told me it was kennel cough. She did Fury's tooth removal surgery when a GSD ran into her playing Frisbee and broke them. I see her at least once a year to get clearance to fly the Fury to Nationals. Nice to meet me? Yishai asked me why I still went there - they're the best in SLO. If you need hips x-rayed, go there. Surgery, go there. Personal relationships? Not so much. At least the receptionist remembered the Fury for her pre-flight check to Wisconsin, and how stoked was she to meet the result of that trip?
Afterwards, Yishai needed to do errands and I figured the muttlets would be okay doing a little ride-along, considering they were up for two very long ones on Monday (down to LA) and Tuesday (airplane). When he got out to do his thing, Firma commandeered the command post.
Curry, true to form, climbed up behind my neck and stayed there (this is a very Fury behavior):
